Reversing Replication and Modifying Settings

After you have set up replication and are actively replicating volume collections from your on-premises array to HPE CV, you can elect to:

  • Stop the replication process
  • Start the replication process
  • Change the replication direction
  • Change the replication partner

To stop or start replicating a specific volume collection:

  1. In the HPE CV main menu, click Replication Stores.
  2. Click the replication store that has volume collections that are replicating.
  3. Click the volume collection.
  4. Click the Modify Replication button.
  5. Click the Replication Direction drop-down menu.
  6. To stop the replication process, click Stop and Apply. To start the replication process click Incoming and Apply.

To change the replication direction so that data flows from your replication store to your on-premises array:

  1. Click the HPE CV main menu and click Replication Stores.
  2. Click the replication store that has volume collections that are replicating.
  3. Click the volume collection.
  4. Click the Modify Replication button.
  5. Click the Replication Direction drop-down menu.
  6. Click Outgoing and Apply.

Important: After you change the replication direction to outgoing, you must also demote the volume collection on the on-premises array to start replication. Similarly, if you change the replication direction from outgoing to incoming, you must also promote the volume collection on the array to start replication. For instructions on how to demote and promote volume collections on your array, refer to the NimbleOS online help.

Note: To replicate encrypted volumes to an on-premises array, encryption must be enabled on the array.

To change the replication partner for a volume collection:

  1. In the HPE CV main menu, click Replication Stores.
  2. Click a replication store that has volume collections that are replicating.
  3. Click a volume collection.
  4. Click the Modify Replication button.
  5. Click the Replication Partner drop-down menu.
  6. Click the new replication partner.
